Barbecues and beer aren’t just for summer days. The beer tenderizes the meat making for a melt in your mouth meatball dish.
Serves 3–4 Sauce:
1⁄4 cup fish free Worcestershire sauce
1 cup barbecue sauce
1 (12-oz.) bottle beer
2 tablespoons honey
Meatballs:
11⁄2 lbs. ground beef
1⁄4 cup brown sugar
1⁄2 teaspoon garlic powder
1⁄2 teaspoon salt
1⁄4 teaspoon black pepper
1 egg yolk
1⁄2 cup panko breadcrumbs or plain breadcrumbs
To serve:
Mashed potatoes or spaghetti Chives, to garnish
1. Turn slow cooker to the high setting.
2. Add Worcestershire sauce, barbecue sauce, beer, and honey to the slow cooker.
3. In a bowl, mix together ground beef, sugar, garlic powder, salt,
pepper, egg yolk, and breadcrumbs. Form into about 15 meatballs and add them to the slow cooker.
4. Cook for 6–7 hours. Serve with mashed
potatoes or spaghetti and garnish with chives. TIP: This recipe doubles easily.
